Did you know?

  • The 37 goals scored by Ted Harper in the 1932-33 season is a club record.

  • North End's victory in the 1938 FA Cup was the last time we've won the FA Cup.

  • The league game against Arsenal drew in a record 42,684. It is still a record now.

  • George Mutch scored the first ever FA Cup Final penalty in 1938, which turned out to be the only goal of the game.

  • The 1938 FA Cup Final against Huddersfield Town was the first ever final to be televised.

  • In March 1933 a fire in the Town End completely gutted the stand. A cigarette had rolled underneath the stand and set alight litter that had built up.

  • The Boxing Day match in 1933 against Brentford was North End's 1,500 league match. It finished 3-2 to the whites.

  • On 23rd December 1933, PNE beat Southampton 3-1 at Deepdale - North End's 600th league win.

  • It was common in those days to play matches on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day. North End had no luck in 1935 though - beaten 5-2 at Brentford and then 4-2 at Deepdale the next day!
